• Three residents positive for COVID

Today, two additional residents tested positive for COVID 19.  They are from the West 3 and East 1 units of our Dalton Place building, and they have been placed together in a zone that quarantines them from all other residents.  The families of these residents have been contacted.  Staff providing care to these residents are following CDC and CMS infection control protocols to help prevent any cross contamination.  We will continue to isolate these residents in a separate zone until the virus has past and we obtain a negative test result showing they are no longer contagious.

Through our regular and breakout testing, additional staff have tested positive.  We currently have a total of 24 staff who are positive.  Per CDC and CMS guidelines, we are conducting ongoing testing of all residents and staff on the following units: 600, 700, 800, East 1, West 2, East 3, and West 3.  Other departments that have been affected are also being tested.

Should any of our ongoing testing produce other covid positive results, the family of any covid positive resident will be contacted right away, and all families will be notified of any visitation changes.

Visitation on each of the nursing units is still allowed as long as each visitor is appropriately screened at our front gate, wears a mask, follows hand hygiene protocols, and keeps socially distanced during the visit.  The only exceptions are with regard to newly admitted residents who are unvaccinated or any current resident who has tested positive for COVID 19.  Such residents must first complete an isolation period prior to any visitation.  If your loved falls under one of the two categories, you can contact their Social Worker or Unit Manager to confirm the date isolation will be completed and/or to ask about Compassionate Care visits.

You can contact the Unit Managers or Social Workers of your loved one’s unit using our number 423-490-1599 and asking for them by name.

Otherwise, all visitors of residents in both the Dalton Place and the Hamilton Terrace buildings are welcome and are to follow these guidelines when visiting:

• By CDC guidance that CMS requires we follow, visitors inside the buildings are to be masked.  Because not all patients are vaccinated, visitors and patients wishing to visit without masks are to conduct their visit outdoors.  Visitors may also be required to wear additional personal protective equipment that we will supply while in the room visiting a resident depending on the status of the unit and the status of the resident. Keep in mind that our patients are at our center because their health is already compromised.  Let’s join together in helping keep them safe while inside!  Afterhours visits can be provided by contacting your loved one’s social worker.

Also, Indoor Group Activities remain postpone at this time due to the high positivity rate Hamilton County which is above 10%.  Once the county the rate goes back below 10% for two weeks, we will be able to allow Indoor Group Activities again.

Over the past 2 days we have had additional staff test positive for COVID 19 as the virus continues to increase in our community and the tri-state area.  We currently have a total of 11 staff out of work due to COVID 19.  The units involved among these staff are 600 and 700 of the Hamilton Terrace building as well as West 2 and East 3 of the Dalton Place building.  Our Food and Nutrition Department and Business Office have also been affected.

All CDC and CMS infection control and testing guidelines are being followed in an effort to protect all staff and residents.  Each resident and staff member on the nursing units in the buildings listed above and staff in the Food and Nutrition department and the Business Office have been tested and are now placed under a 14 day observation period.  None of the additional testing thus far has resulted in COVID 19 positive results.

Visitation on each of the nursing units is still allowed to continue as long as each visitor is appropriately screened at our front gate and then wears a mask, keeps socially distanced during the visit, and follows hand hygiene protocols.

One of our West 2 staff members has tested positive for COVID 19.  This staff member has been removed from the schedule and will not return to work until they are no longer positive.  All CDC and CMS infection control and testing guidelines are being followed in an effort to protect all staff and residents.  Each resident and staff member on the West 2 unit was tested today, and no others had a COVID 19 positive result.

Be aware that the West 2 unit is placed under a 14 observation and isolation period which includes ongoing testing of staff and residents per CDC and CMS guidelines.

• 4 recent COVID cases among staff

Standifer Place has had 4 staff test positive.  None are direct caregivers, so there are no changes to visitation on the nursing units.  Those staff who tested positive are not working until they have completed their required isolation at home and no longer have symptoms.  Additional testing is being conducted among the departments who had the positive cases.

With the Hamilton County positivity rate having stayed below 10% for the past 2 weeks, we are set to begin indoor Group Activities again.  Once our additional testing due to the positive cases is completed, we hope to begin Group Activities after this coming week.

• Hamilton Terrace 600/C and 700/D units visitation restrictions lifted
• Hamilton Terrace 400/A and 500/B units remain under observation

We are pleased to announce that as of this afternoon, the 600/C and 700/D units in Hamilton Terrace building have successfully completed their observation and isolation period without any new positive covid test results for residents or staff!  Therefore, visitation restrictions have been lifted for these two units.

The 400/A and 500/B units remain under a 14 observation and isolation period which includes:

• ongoing testing per CDC and CMS guidelines; and,
• all visitation must be scheduled through our social workers, David Turner and Kristin Bowers.

Should any of our ongoing testing on the 400/A and 500/B units during the 14 day observation produce another covid positive result, the family of any covid positive resident will be contacted right away, and all families will be notified of changes to the observation period.
