09-29-2021: VISITATION UPDATE

  • Hamilton Terrace 400/A and 500/B units are under observation due to positive testing results
  • Hamilton Terrace 600/C and 700/D units remain under observation due to positive testing results
  • All other units in Hamilton Terrace and Dalton Place open for visitation

 

Through our scheduled COVID testing, a staff member of our 400/A unit has tested positive.  This staff member has been removed from the schedule and will not return to work until they are no longer positive.  Additionally but unrelated to this positive staff member, we have one resident on the 500/B unit who is covid positive who is isolated to their room until they are no longer covid positive.  The family of this resident has been notified.  All Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Centers for Medicare/Medicaid (CMS) infection control and testing guidelines are being followed in an effort to protect all staff and residents.

Be aware that due to this positive result with the staff member, the 400/A and 500/B units are placed under a 14 observation and isolation period which includes:

  • ongoing testing per CDC and CMS guidelines; and,
  • all visitation must be scheduled through our social workers, David Turner and Kristin Bowers.

 

Should any of our ongoing testing during the 14 day observation produce another covid positive result, the family of any covid positive resident will be contacted right away, and all families will be notified of changes to the observation period.

The 600/C and 700/D units remain under observation until 10-07-2021 barring no further positive COVID test results.  Due to the acute medical conditions on the 600 and 700 units, visitation is limited to Window Visits and Compassionate Care visits during this time.  You can call the social worker Adeline Mayes to schedule a visit.

Residents and the staff of 400/A, 500/B, 600/C, and 700/D units will continue to be tested per CDC guidelines during their observation periods.

For all visitors of residents in both the Dalton Place and the Hamilton Terrace buildings:  By CDC guidance that CMS requires we follow, visitors inside the buildings are to be masked.  Because not all patients are vaccinated, visitors and patients wishing to visit without masks are to conduct their visit outdoors.  Visitors may also be required to wear additional personal protective equipment that we will supply while in the room visiting a resident depending on the status of the unit and the status of the resident.  Keep in mind that our patients are at our center because their health is already compromised.  Let’s join together in helping keep them safe while inside!  Afterhours visits can be provided by contacting your loved one’s social worker.

09-23-2021: VISITATION UPDATE

We have had 3 positive test results in our Hamilton Terrace C and D wing units.  Families of the one positive patient have been notified.  As a result, these 2 units have been placed under observation with no indoor visitation allowed at this time.  Window visits and Compassionate Care visits can be scheduled by contacted the Social Worker of your loved one.

Since these positive test results, all residents and the remainder of staff of the C and D units were tested, and all results were negative.  All other staff of the Hamilton Terrace building were also tested and were all negative.  We will continue to provide the additional testing per CDC guidelines of residents and staff over the 14 day timeframes that apply to each unit.  Contact the Social Worker of your loved one for the date that visitation restrictions are expected to end.

08-07-2021: VISITATION UPDATE

  • Positive cases bring some visitation restrictions

Since Hamilton County has a COVID Positivity rate above 10% and because Standifer Place have discovered through our continued testing 6 positive employees, visitation is impacted as follows:

  • Our Dalton Place West 3 Unit (rooms 302 through 330) is currently under Observation and visitation is restricted as least until 08-20-2021
  • All other units remain with open visitation hours, 7 days a week from 8am to 8pm
  • Visitors enter the main lobby of our buildings to be screened and provided a mask.

Regarding the positive employees, only one was in a patient care area which was West 3.  Therefore, only that unit was affected concerning visitation.  All employees and all residents of the Dalton building were tested on Friday and all were negative.  Testing will continue for all employees and residents of the Dalton Place building at least until 08-20-2021.  West 3 families and residents will be notified of any change in visitation restrictions.

  • July 4th Celebration moved to Monday, July 5th from 7pm to Nightfall

Due to the increased likelihood of thunderstorms entering our area Thursday evening, the Fireworks Extravaganza originally scheduled for July 1st, has been postponed until Monday, July 5th from 7pm to Nightfall. Please join us for some great live entertainment, hot dogs, ice cream, drinks, and a fireworks show!

06-24-2021: VISITATION UPDATE

  • Visitation to expand to 7 days a week, from 8am to 8pm!

With 2 consecutive weekly reports of Hamilton County’s positivity rate being below 5%, we are set to expand visitation beginning Monday June 28th!!   On that date and as long as the weekly positivity rate stays below 5%, Standifer Place will provide visitation as follows:

  • Open visitation hours, 7 days a week from 8am to 8pm
  • Visitors enter the main lobby of our buildings to be screened and provided a mask.

06-14-2021: VISITATION UPDATE

  • Hamilton Terrace, Dalton Place and Assisted Living are open for scheduled indoor and outdoor visits
  • Hamilton County first posted positivity rate below 5%!!
  • July 4th Party on July 1st: all residents, families, employees, employee families invited!

 

Currently, with no positive covid cases at Standifer Place, we are continuing to hold scheduled indoor and outdoor visitation for all buildings here on our campus.  Contact your Social Worker to schedule a visit!

We received great news today that Hamilton County’s positivity rate has dropped to 3.7%!!!  This is well below the 5% threshold needed to place Hamilton County in a “Green” status which will open all visitation back up.  Once the county goes 14 days below 5%, we can open our door for regular visitation that does not require scheduling AND that includes weekends!  Potentially, June 28th will be the day visitation is fully back to normal.  Stay tuned for further information.

Lastly, all residents, their families, all our staff, and their families are invited to join us for a July 4th celebration on Thursday, July 1st from 7pm till Nightfall.  We’ll have some live entertainment, hot dogs, ice cream, drinks, and of course a good fireworks show.

05-13-2021: VISITATION UPDATE

  • Dalton Place and Assisted Living is open for scheduled indoor and outdoor visits
  • Hamilton Terrace is temporarily limited to scheduled outdoor and window visits

Due to a recent positive covid test result on 05-11-2021 of an employee assigned in the Hamilton Terrace building, we have had to immediately limit scheduled visits of residents in the Hamilton Terrace building to outdoor and window visits.  Assuming our continued testing finds no other positive results, we anticipate re-opening to scheduled indoor and outdoor visitation as of this Tuesday, 05-18-2021.  The employee who tested positive has been placed on leave.  Thus far there have been no other positive test results among employees or residents.

Residents in the Dalton Place building are currently able to have scheduled indoor and outdoor visitation.

We will update families and this website of the dates the visitation restriction is over.

We continue to monitor the Hamilton County positivity rate which remains above 5%, keeping all skilled nursing facilities in Hamilton County from being allowed to resume fully open indoor visitation and hours.  We hope and look forward to when Hamilton County will be at or below 5% so we can resume normal visitation.  Each person playing their part to get vaccinated is the best way we all can drive the positivity rate down.

03-24-2021: VISITATION UPDATE

Visitation restricted for 2 units due to 3 covid positive results

Scheduled indoor and outdoor visitation continues at Standifer Place, however 3 positive tests have restricted visitation on 2 units.  Families contacting the Social Worker of their loved one is the best method to schedule visitation or confirm when visitation will resume.

The 2 units for which we currently are restricting visitation are:

  • 400 unit of the Hamilton Terrace building
  • West 2 of the Dalton Place building

These restrictions are due to recent positive test results for 1 employee and 2 residents from those units.  All families have already been notified and appropriate infection control procedures and testing have been and are being conducted through the isolation and observation window.  We will update families and this website of the dates the visitation restriction is over.

02-26-2021: VISITATION PLANS UPDATE

Outdoor Visitation and Group Activities beginning this Wednesday, March 3rd!

Effective this Wednesday, March 3rd, Standifer Place is excited to begin offering outdoor visitation and window visits for residents who are unable to be outdoors.  Also beginning on the 3rd, our Activities staff will start offering socially distanced Group Activities for our residents.

Our Social Services staff will be contacting families by phone at the beginning of this coming week to schedule outdoor visits as early as March 3rd.  We look forward to seeing visitors on campus and beginning the steps that will eventually lead to regular visitation for everyone.    Be aware that if the weather forecast shows rain or temperature below 60 degrees, we will cancel visitation for that day.

Concerning indoor visitation, some confusion was created this week when the Tennessee Department of Health announced their removal of visitation restrictions on nursing facilities.  However, it remains the case that all nursing facilities are still required to follow visitation regulations and restrictions as defined by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).  CMS does require that the following 2 factors must be met before indoor visitation can be allowed:

  • COVID positivity rate in the community must be below 10%, according to CMS bi-weekly reporting; and,
  • The nursing facility must have gone 14 days without any new COVID-19 cases (among either staff or residents)

Hamilton County is still above 10%, and Standifer Place has had a positive case within the past 14 days.  We will continue to monitor these criteria, and we will be ready to open up for scheduled indoor visitation once the criteria are met.

02-16-2021: VISITATION PLANS UPDATE

Making plans for Group Activities and Visitation!

We’re so glad to see the positivity rate in the community come down from a high of over 20% to 10.1% in Hamilton County as of reporting by the Tennessee Dept of Health dated 02-14-2021!  This along with our having completed our 2nd vaccination clinic on February 5th has us hoping that as of March 1st we might begin some of our Group Activities and begin allowing visitors on campus for outdoor visitation and possibly indoor visitation as well!

The 2 factors that we must meet by that time are:

  • Positivity rate in the community must be below 10%
  • Standifer Place must have gone 14 days without any new COVID-19 cases (among either staff or residents)

We’re optimistically moving ahead thinking we have a good shot at meeting both those criteria by March 1st.  If we do, we’ll begin the following on that date:

  • Re-introducing some of our favorite Group Activities such as Communal Dining, Bingo, and Church Services.
  • Scheduled visitation for families here at the facility, perhaps 40 family members per day. We hope to be able to provide 15 minute COVID tests to help ensure safe visitation.

01-14-2021: VISITATION PLANS UPDATE

COVID-19 positive tests in facility and community halting visitation

While a second outbreak that occurred in November and early December has now resolved, we still are experiencing a small number of cases among staff and residents.  As of this update we have a total of 7 active cases, 4 of those are residents and 3 are staff.  All residents and families have already been notified and the residents are being properly quarantined on our COVID-19 unit and receiving care.  The staff who are active are not working until they complete their quarantine away from work.  They must test negative before returning to work.

Because of these cases within our facility and the positivity rate in the community still very high at 23.8% (Hamilton County), we are still not providing indoor or outdoor visitation at this time except in End of Life and Compassionate Care situations as defined in the previous update below.  Until new cases in our facility cease and the positivity rate turns below 10% in the community, we are certain it is best to temporarily restrict visitation.

As you likely are all aware, Hamilton County and all surrounding counties are experiencing the worst increase in the number of positive cases and positivity rate since the pandemic began.  As well, we are in what I hope to be the final stages of ending an outbreak here within the facility that began in November.  Due to these factors, we are still not providing indoor or outdoor visitation at this time except in End of Life and Compassionate Care situations as defined below.  Until new cases in our facility cease and the positivity rate turns below 10% in the community, we are certain it is best to temporarily restrict visitation.

You can read our overall cases, active cases, and recovery numbers on this website by clicking on the COVID Status link found on the home page.  As of 12-17-2020, we’ve had a total of 242 staff and residents cases, 200 recoveries, and 30 remaining active cases.  The number of active cases is far below a high we had a few weeks ago in late November of 103.  We are heartened by the progress.

I’m very proud of our team, of our resilient residents, and of our family members who have fought to be safe and be patient during this time.  Frankly, this has been an extremely trying, sad, and difficult time; and, yet there is much encouragement and strength found in all that is happening here of the continued caring, working, assessing, cooking, cleaning, disinfecting, and loving on all members of our precious community of residents and staff.

Visitation that is continuing

The following remain within the regulations and recommendations of the Tennessee Department of Health (TDOH) and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS).

FaceTime – HCSP has been offering since the start of the pandemic in March the ability for residents and families to communicate and see each other via phone or tablet.  If anyone would like to schedule this kind of visitation, you should contact your Social Worker or the Activities staff member on the unit of the resident.

Compassionate Care and/or End of Life Visits — HCSP has been offering since the start of the pandemic in March.  If anyone would like to schedule this kind of visitation, you should contact your Nursing Unit manager or Social Worker for the unit of the resident.

Positivity Rate — The positivity rate for each county is measured weekly with a new report each Monday morning.  You can see the positivity rate of all the counties in TN yourself by going to the following link: https://www.tn.gov/health/cedep/ncov/data/clusters-in-long-term-care-facilities.html  .  Once there, click on “Test Percent Positivity by County”.

11-19-2020:  VISITATION PLANS UPDATE

We have had difficult days over the past 2 weeks, and I wish we had better news to share.  As you can see from our COVID case numbers listed our our COVID status page, we are unfortunately experiencing a major outbreak here with 77 active cases between staff and residents.  Five of our 12 units across both buildings remain under quarantine.  The county positivity rate has hit a new high of 13.3%.  Given all these factors, we must continue with our shut down of all visitation.  I am unfortunately confident we won’t be in a position to open up any visitation by Thanksgiving.  We will do everything we can to offer as much facetime as possible during this time and the holiday.

We continue to daily test either staff or residents based on our schedule and on what potential exposures warrant.  We have PPE in place and in use, and we’re monitoring everyone closely.  A State surveyor was here this past Monday who affirmed our infection control procedures.  We’ve reported cases to the state as mandated.

While this news is more than heartbreaking, our team of care givers are amazing and they remain strong and ready for the task at hand.  I’m very proud of our team, and I’m very proud and thankful for our residents and families who have been so patient and enduring.

11-12-2020:  VISITATION PLANS UPDATE

COVID-19 positive tests in facility and community halting visitation

Over the past couple of weeks and more critically since Monday of this week, we have experienced a growing number of positive COVID test results among our staff and residents.  This combined with a significant increase in positive cases in both Hamilton County and other surrounding counties have led us to make the difficult decision to halting Window/Booth visitation.  Until we have opportunity to see our positive cases in the facility cease and positive cases in the community subside, we are certain it is best to temporarily halt these visits.

Information on new positive cases within Standifer Place

Specific to the Health Center at Standifer Place (HCSP), we have 4 staff and 5 residents who have tested positive since 11-11-2020.  We immediately moved those residents to our COVID Unit (400 wing) which is located in the Hamilton Terrace building.  The families of all 5 positive residents have already been notified of the positive test.  The COVID Unit has fully dedicated staff and is separated from all other residents and staff.  The professional caregivers on that unit are well trained and positioned to provide continued care in a safe and secure manner.

The 4 staff members who tested positive has been removed from work and placed under quarantine.  They will not be able to return to work until they complete CDC criteria for the timeframe required being asymptomatic and testing negative for the virus.  We have also completed contact tracing and have taken necessary steps with others including additional testing as warranted.

Steps taken to quarantine certain units

One of the results of our contact tracing was to quarantine certain nursing units.  We have quarantined 5 of our nursing units where the positive cases were found.  These units are as follows: In Hamilton Terrace — 600, 700, 900.  In our Dalton Place building, they are — West 1 and West 3.  We are also providing additional testing to the residents and staff on these units throughout the time of their quarantine.  If any test result is positive, we will be notifying the resident and family immediately and taking other steps per CDC guidelines.

We fully expect that Hamilton County will be at or above the 10% positivity rate by this coming Sunday evening’s report.  We are already prepared to test all staff twice weekly as required by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid and the Tennessee Dept of Health.

10-30-2020:  VISITATION PLANS UPDATE

Limited Indoor Visitation update

As we approach the beginning of November, our plan to begin limited indoor visitation is unfortunately being postpone due to two factors.  Before I share the details about postponing Limited Indoor Visitation, be aware that we are continuing to offer Facetime, Window/Booth Visitation, and Compassionate Care visits.  These remain within the regulations and recommendations of the Tennessee Department of Health (TDOH) and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS).

There are two factors that are causing us to postpone limited indoor visitation.  One factor is that on 10-20-2020, we had a positive COVID case with one of our staff members.  As you may recall, the TDOH and CMS both require nursing facilities to be free of any new COVID cases for at least 14 days before limited indoor visitation can be allowed.  The second factor is that the positivity rate (the percentage of positive test results) in Hamilton County grew from 6.7% to 8.7% as of this past Monday with several surrounding counties over 10%.  If as of this Monday morning, the rate is at or above 10% and/or if the counties surrounding Hamilton County are still at or above 10%, we will not be allowed to conduct limited indoor visitation.  Unfortunately the trend in the state is headed upward at this time.

We are very disheartened by this news.  The positivity rate is measured weekly with a new report each Monday morning.  You can see the positivity rate of all the counties in TN yourself by going to the following link: https://www.tn.gov/health/cedep/ncov/data/clusters-in-long-term-care-facilities.html  .  Once there, click on “Test Percent Positivity by County”.

To combat this delay of limited indoor visitation, we are going to begin offering additional times for Window/Booth visits.  Contact your Social Worker to learn about additional time available.  Let’s hope and pray the weather will be kind to us until indoor visitation can begin.

10-08-2020:  VISITATION PLANS UPDATE

The Health Center at Standifer Place (HCSP) is working to enable visitation within the guidance and regulations specified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) and the Tennessee Department of Health (TDOH).

On September 17, 2020 both the TDOH and CMS provided guidance and instructions on Nursing Home Visitation and Visitation Options.  While there is some difference and conflict between what measurements each uses to determine what kinds of visitation is allowed and defined as safe, HCSP is taking the following steps:

PENDING IMPLEMENTATION

Outdoor or Indoor visitation – HCSP will gradually introduce indoor visitation if conditions at our facility and in Hamilton County continue to improve, and hopefully ahead of cold weather that would make outdoor visitation and window visits very difficult and/or dangerous.  At a minimum, facilities must meet both requirements defined by the TDOH and CMS which are as follows:

  • TDOH requires that a nursing facility have no confirmed COVID-19 positive test results for either residents or staff for at least 14 days before offering outdoor visitation or limited indoor visitation.
  • CMS requires that in addition to the 14 days, that the county and the surrounding counties “positivity rate” be below 10%.  The “positivity rate” measures what percentage of COVID-19 tests in the county are positive.  CMS says that facilities may then implement limited visitation “according to the core principles of COVID-19 infection prevention and facility policies.”

Given the size of our facility, the number of staff who work, go home, and come back to work, as well as the number of cases we have had, HCSP will safely and methodically introduce outdoor visitation and limited indoor visitation.  Under the assumption we meet and continue to meet these 2 criteria, HCSP is setting plans to begin limited indoor visitation and outdoor visitation (weather permitting) by November 2nd.

Additional updates will be posted to our website each Friday afternoon between now and then.  Contact your Social Worker and/or Nurse Unit manager or Asst Unit Manager with any questions.  We look forward to having us all together again.  Let’s work together to make all of our communities a safe place for everyone!  Masks, sanitized hands, and social distancing are everyone’s responsibility and everyone’s best and simplest tools to stop the spread of this disease!

 

 

INSTRUCTIONS FOR SAFE VISITATION – INFECTION CONTROL

Effective immediately, Standifer Place is restricting entry into each of our resident buildings (Hamilton Terrace, Dalton Place, and Standifer Place Assisted Living) for any visitation that is not medically necessary.

Our normal visiting hours have been suspended until further notice.  These restrictions will be reviewed on a weekly basis until concerns with the Corona Virus are resolved.

We are also taking preventative measures, completed on a daily basis, with all facility employees, contractors, and consultants whose entry into our facility is required to meet residents’ care needs and to keep residents safe.

We greatly appreciate your patience as we work to best provide care and a safe environment for all our residents.  Standifer Place is happy to assist in providing alternate means of visiting via phone and internet based communication.  Questions/concerns can be addressed by calling our facility at 423-490-1599.

Specifics on Restricting Individuals from Entering our Building 

Standifer Place is taking the following actions to help prevent the entry of COVID-19 into our facility whether or not it has been found in the surrounding community.

  1. Allow entry to only individuals who need entry.
  2. Restrict activities and visitors with potential for exposure.
  3. Actively screen individuals entering the building and restrict entry to those with respiratory symptoms or possible exposure to COVID-19.

#1 Restrict entry to only individuals who need entry, such as:

  • Facility employees, contractors and consultants who are needed to keep the operations running and assure the residents’ needs are met.
  • Government officials who in their capacity require entry (e.g., CDC or public health staff).
  • Immediate families or friends who need to visit for critical or time sensitive reasons such as end of life related visits, complete medical authorizations, etc. These visitors should be instructed to limit their movement within the facility.

#2 Restrict activities and individuals with potential for exposure, including:

  • Visitors, when there are any confirmed COVID-19 cases in the surrounding community. This does not apply to workforce needed to keep the operations going and to meet resident needs.
  • Other visitors for routine social visits, tours with prospective residents or their families, and outside group activities (e.g., school groups or bands, etc.).
  • We have canceled group activities and activities that take residents into the community to public places particularly with large gatherings, such as mall, movies, etc. (note: this does NOT apply to residents who need to leave the building for medical care such as dialysis, medical visits, etc).

#3 Actively screening all individuals entering the building, including employees, contractors, volunteers, visitors, new admissions, government officials, and health care professionals. The screening process includes asking individuals for:

  • Respiratory symptoms (fever, sore throat, cough and new shortness of breath);
  • International travel within the last 14 days to areas where COVID-19 cases have been confirmed.
  • Anyone who has worked in another health care setting with confirmed COVID-19 cases (this may change as COVID-19 spreads in your community)
  • Alcohol-based hand rub (ABHR) stations are setup immediately inside the main entryways with signage reminding people to wash before entering.

Reasons Standifer Place is Restricting Individuals from Entering our Building 

The current COVID-19 outbreak situation means that it is critical that we take every precaution possible.  We must prevent this virus from entering our center.  Protecting our residents’ health and safety is our top priority.

The CDC has done a careful review of the death rate in the elderly, especially those with dementia or chronic diseases. Experts are recommending we take action to limit individuals from entering our building and to ensure sick employees stay home.

Early data shows that

  • The mortality rate for people over 80 in the general population is 15% in China.
  • The World Health Organization report estimates the mortality rate at 21.9% for those over 80.
  • At the nursing home in Washington state, there have been 50 residents who have tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. As of March 9, 2020, 19 of those have died. This is a high death rate.

There is a risk that people who appear healthy will enter nursing homes and infect residents. Studies of past viral epidemics where recommending prevention was delayed were not effective. These studies show that the sooner we limit interactions with each other and wash your hands frequently virus spreads more slowly.

These facts have led many to recommend severe limitations on visitation.

We hope this explains to you why we are asking people to limit their visits. This may prevent you from physically seeing your family member or friend during this time.  Our residents’ health and safety are our top concern, and we are committed to doing everything we can to protect them.

06-14-2021: VISITATION UPDATE

  • July 4th Party on July 1st: all residents, families, employees, employee families invited!

Currently, with no positive covid cases at Standifer Place, we are continuing to hold scheduled indoor and outdoor visitation for all buildings here on our campus.  Contact your Social Worker to schedule a visit!

We received great news today that Hamilton County’s positivity rate has dropped to 3.7%!!!  This is well below the 5% threshold needed to place Hamilton County in a “Green” status which will open all visitation back up.  Once the county goes 14 days below 5%, we can open our door for regular visitation that does not require scheduling AND that includes weekends!  Potentially, June 28th will be the day visitation is fully back to normal.  Stay tuned for further information.

Lastly, all residents, their families, all our staff, and their families are invited to join us for a July 4th celebration on Thursday, July 1st from 7pm till Nightfall.  We’ll have some live entertainment, hot dogs, ice cream, drinks, and of course a good fireworks show.

05-13-2021: VISITATION UPDATE

  • Dalton Place and Assisted Living is open for scheduled indoor and outdoor visits
  • Hamilton Terrace is temporarily limited to scheduled outdoor and window visits

Due to a recent positive covid test result on 05-11-2021 of an employee assigned in the Hamilton Terrace building, we have had to immediately limit scheduled visits of residents in the Hamilton Terrace building to outdoor and window visits.  Assuming our continued testing finds no other positive results, we anticipate re-opening to scheduled indoor and outdoor visitation as of this Tuesday, 05-18-2021.  The employee who tested positive has been placed on leave.  Thus far there have been no other positive test results among employees or residents.

Residents in the Dalton Place building are currently able to have scheduled indoor and outdoor visitation.

We will update families and this website of the dates the visitation restriction is over.

We continue to monitor the Hamilton County positivity rate which remains above 5%, keeping all skilled nursing facilities in Hamilton County from being allowed to resume fully open indoor visitation and hours.  We hope and look forward to when Hamilton County will be at or below 5% so we can resume normal visitation.  Each person playing their part to get vaccinated is the best way we all can drive the positivity rate down.

03-24-2021: VISITATION UPDATE

Visitation restricted for 2 units due to 3 covid positive results

Scheduled indoor and outdoor visitation continues at Standifer Place, however 3 positive tests have restricted visitation on 2 units.  Families contacting the Social Worker of their loved one is the best method to schedule visitation or confirm when visitation will resume.

The 2 units for which we currently are restricting visitation are:

  • 400 unit of the Hamilton Terrace building
  • West 2 of the Dalton Place building

These restrictions are due to recent positive test results for 1 employee and 2 residents from those units.  All families have already been notified and appropriate infection control procedures and testing have been and are being conducted through the isolation and observation window.  We will update families and this website of the dates the visitation restriction is over.

02-26-2021: VISITATION PLANS UPDATE

Outdoor Visitation and Group Activities beginning this Wednesday, March 3rd!

Effective this Wednesday, March 3rd, Standifer Place is excited to begin offering outdoor visitation and window visits for residents who are unable to be outdoors.  Also beginning on the 3rd, our Activities staff will start offering socially distanced Group Activities for our residents.

Our Social Services staff will be contacting families by phone at the beginning of this coming week to schedule outdoor visits as early as March 3rd.  We look forward to seeing visitors on campus and beginning the steps that will eventually lead to regular visitation for everyone.    Be aware that if the weather forecast shows rain or temperature below 60 degrees, we will cancel visitation for that day.

Concerning indoor visitation, some confusion was created this week when the Tennessee Department of Health announced their removal of visitation restrictions on nursing facilities.  However, it remains the case that all nursing facilities are still required to follow visitation regulations and restrictions as defined by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).  CMS does require that the following 2 factors must be met before indoor visitation can be allowed:

  • COVID positivity rate in the community must be below 10%, according to CMS bi-weekly reporting; and,
  • The nursing facility must have gone 14 days without any new COVID-19 cases (among either staff or residents)

Hamilton County is still above 10%, and Standifer Place has had a positive case within the past 14 days.  We will continue to monitor these criteria, and we will be ready to open up for scheduled indoor visitation once the criteria are met.

Further updates will be posted here on our website, and we can be reached by phone as well.  Please keep yourselves safe by continuing to wear your mask, wash your hands, and keep your distances even as the light at the end of this tunnel gets brighter.  Your helping keep the rate down in the community has a big impact for us all!
